As many of you know, fashion designer Kate Spade and popular American chef Anthony Bourdain committed suicide this past week– Kate Spade on June 5th, and Anthony Bourdain today, June 8th.
These were two people who caught us by surprise; people who no one would have ever guessed would do such a thing. May Christ open our eyes more and more to those who are hurting, hopeless, and helpless around us. As a person who is the loved one of a victim of suicide, I can understand the pain, shock, and grief. Will you pray with me for their loved ones?
“Dear Lord Jesus,
You knew this was going to happen, Lord Jesus. You are sovereign over it all– though we are able to make our own decisions.
As Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain’s families and loved ones grieve them, please make Your presence known to them. Help us to love those people around us.
Give us your eyes, Lord Jesus. May those on the edge find help and healing in You, and You alone.
In Jesus’ Name we pray,
Amen.”
