Prayers for the Three Mass Shootings in the US

Three.
That is the amount of school shootings that have happened in the last week in the USA. One shooting was at the Rite-Aid distribution center in Maryland; another was “in a courthouse in Masontown, PA”; and yet another another was at the “WTS Paradigm software company in Middleton, WI” (source).

How did we get to this point? Are things truly getting more and more incredulously violent as the days, months, and years go on? The fact that this violence is a sign of the end-times comes to mind:

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.’”
(Luke 17:28-30)

In the days of Lot, there was extreme violence and extreme sexual immorality. Does this ring a bell? Jesus also said that there would be “pestilences, wars and rumors of wars” in the last days (Matthew 24:6-7). While I don’t want to be like those people screaming on street corners about the world ending, it’s fascinating that the prophets, apostles and Jesus have prophesied correctly about a slew of events– including our future.future

These mass shootings are barbaric and heartbreaking. As we see the end of our time on earth, and we grieve our loved ones in a world that is becoming more and more broken each day, may we look to Jesus for the courage, strength, boldness, and Love to share the Gospel with others and help those who are hurting the most.

Those grieving all over the United States needs our solidarity, listening ears, and most importantly, they need the Hope and Strength found in Jesus. Let’s stand behind them, mourn with them, and seek Christ for true change.LOVE

There is no normal life that is free of pain. It’s the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth.”
– Mr. Fred Rogers, “Mister Roger’s Neighborhood”
