Hey friends,
I was just going through my Facebook feed, and what I saw sickened me. Video after video created by both sides of the political spectrum showed merciless anger toward the other side, making fun of everything from women crying over Kavanaugh being appointed, to a video of a young woman punching a conservative man’s sign out of his hand. Has it really happened—have we really lost all our humanity?
I don’t want to go on and on in preaching about this. We all know how divided and evil this nation has become; how intense the need is for Christ to come back, and make all things right.
What I do want to say, though, is that this reminds me of what God says in scripture:
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
And,
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
(1 Timothy 2:1-2)
What do both of these verses have in common? They both declare that prayer to Jesus—not mere signatures on a petition, or signs from both political parties waved in the air—is what will truly save and change this country.
It is with this in mind that I ask we take some time out of our busy schedules, and really spend some time in prayer with Jesus. He sees and knows exactly what is going on. Only He can bring such a fractured state of affairs to wholeness.
With Love, in Christ,
Annalee
Random as it may seem, I want to dedicate this blog post to those who are especially hurting right now: mothers and fathers who have lost their children in utero or as babies. This month is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, and if you would keep those hurting in prayer, that would be wonderful. Go over to Katy’s post for more on pregnancy and infant loss.
Do you know Jesus?
In Jesus alone, there is real, true Peace. Learn more about Jesus, the Prince of Peace, here.
Please pray for…
- The United States of America. We need prayer now more than ever.
- Other governments and nations in the world. We are not the only broken ones.
- Since it is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, please pray for those who have lost their children and are commemorating them this month.
- Please keep the Chibok girls and Leah Sharibu’s freedom in your prayers, as well.
Thank you for your prayers!
