It has been reported by This Day News that, at a bilateral meeting in Poland with Swiss President Alain Berset, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari vowed not to rest until the Chibok schoolgirls are all freed and brought home.
Anyone can see that this is a tall order, and has been greatly politicized; but it is comforting to know that God is stirring up the hearts of those in power to rescue and free these young women. Yet, the solemn question still remains: do they still want to be freed? As discussed in this post, many of the women may have children and Boko Haram husbands, and may or may not be taken good care of.
With this in mind, I want to focus prayer on the women: that they would desire to be free; and on those in power, who work, perhaps in secret, to secure the girls’ freedom.
Friends, Readers, let us not be naïve when it comes to the spiritual oppression these girls are under.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
(Ephesians 6:12, NIV)
There is much darkness surrounding this entire ordeal, and we must pray against it! Without getting sensationalized about spiritual warfare, there are parts of the world where satan is busy at work—and it is up to us as Christ Followers to pray against satan and his schemes, while also moving forward in love to help those suffering under such bondage.
Freedom for the girls could be closer than ever! Please pray with me, that all of this becomes a reality very soon!
Do you know Jesus?
Jesus died to set us free from the bondage we were helpless to get out of ourselves—the bondage of sin and death. Learn more about how Jesus did this, and what it means for us, here.
Please pray for…
- The Chibok girls. Pray:
- Against the enemy that is oppressing and deceiving them
- Against the powers of darkness (Ephesians 6)
- That President Buhari actually meant what he promised
- Leah Sharibu. Pray that she would not become a life-long slave, but would be freed by the awesome power of Jesus!
