In Nigeria, satan is having a hey-day.
Over the past 4 days, approximately 200 Nigerian Christians have died at the hands of Muslim Fulani herdsmen. The news has reported these crimes as ethnically driven… but the truth of the matter is, it is religious in nature.
I don’t want to over-spiritualize everything, but it’s true, guys: we have an enemy. And he has come to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10-11). What are we supposed to do for such a complex, corrupt society as Northern Nigeria? Throwing money at the problem may help the symptoms, but no amount of money can heal the root of this issue, because it is spiritual in nature. We must pray.
For the victims of these atrocities.
For the salvation and change of the Fulani Herdsmen.
Against the corruption in Nigerian government and leadership.
For all to know the saving Grace and Love of Jesus, especially in Nigeria.
Nothing and no one but Jesus can save these people, and make every wrong into a right.
As 2 Chronicles 7 says,
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
(2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV)
The nations of the world, including Nigeria, need to repent and get right with Jesus. May the Great Physician heal the root causes and corruption of what is happening right now.
