“Enough”: A Prayer for the Synagogue Shooting in San Diego

On April 27th, 2019, 4 people were shot and injured as they were worshipping inside a synagogue in San Diego, California. One of those people, a 60-year-old woman, died from her injuries.

As of late, there have been bombings, shootings, and general religious violence all over the world. We have been promised that things in the last days will not get better, but rather worse; but really—we are sick and tired of lamenting the dead.

Sick and tired of holding vigils.
Sick and tired of writing notes and bringing flowers to places to commemorate the dead, wounded, and all those affected.

Jesus, please come back soon. Show these people who You are. Heal their hearts and show them that You alone have saved us—and will continue to do so, until the very end.

More than this, help us to reach out in love to these people, showing Christ’s Love to a group of extremely hurt people, right now.

Help us to love even when—and especially when—it hurts. Only You can do this.

In Jesus’ Name we pray,

Amen.
