GOOD NEWS!
On May 28th, 2019, it was reported that 2 terrorists were killed by the Nigerian military, while troops defended the city of Maiduguri from Boko Haram. Unfortunately, I do not know exactly how powerful and effective the Nigerian military is, because of such a lack of news; but these few headlines give us a better look at the war happening in Nigeria and West Africa. It seems like a small step. But it is not all loss, though headlines may say so! Steps forward, no matter how “small,” are incredibly important, and should be seen and celebrated.
Because this news affects the personal lives of those in Northern Nigeria, and the surrounding countries. It is good news for people used to defeat. Sometimes, I think we expect this huge, completely life-changing event to happen, and we call that a victory. But we forget to see the small steps being taken everyday, the little victories we experience as we continually say “yes” to Jesus and His Work in our lives.
Jesus celebrates these “little victories,” and we should too. And let us not stop praying for continued victory– both in the Nigerian military’s war against Boko Haram, and in our own lives.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin…”
(Zechariah 4:10, NLT)
Do you know Jesus?
2,000 years ago, God stepped down out of heaven to save us. Learn more about Jesus, what He did, and why it matters, here.
Please pray for (find the prayer sheet here):
- The Chibok girls and Leah Sharibu; that they would be found and freed soon.
- The Nigerian and West African militaries, that they would continue to defeat Boko Haram.
- Boko Haram members. We are to pray for those who persecute us and show love to our enemies. May they repent and come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Thank you for all of your prayers!!!
