My heart breaks as I write this.
For those of you who do not know, Pastor Jarrid Wilson passed away by suicide on the night of Monday, September 9th. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.
Guys, we cannot put pastors and clergy on a pedestal. They are humans—humans in need of real support, real friendship, real mental/emotional/spiritual/physical care, and real prayer.
Please pray with me over those who are grieving the loss of their pastor. Let us pray that mental health stigma would be done away with, and that we, as the body of Christ, would reach out and truly support our pastors. May we do what Romans 12 exhorts:
“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. …Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.” (Romans 12:9, 15, NIV)
Now is the time to weep. Rest in Jesus’ arms, Jarrid. We love you.
