It is with a heavy heart that I report that Neil Peart, drummer of the Prog-Rock band Rush, has passed away of brain cancer on January 7th, 2020.
Peart was a very private man, and this news comes as a shock to many. The death of his first wife and daughter in 1997-1998 respectively caused him to take a roadtrip of sorts on his motorcycle, inspiring his poignant book, “Ghost Rider.” He leaves behind his second wife, Carrie, and one child, as well as his bandmates, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson.
While this seems very random to put on this blog, Peart was a big part of my personal childhood, being apart of my father’s favorite band. Hearing of his death is heavy for me, and reminds me that only Christ remains… it reminds me that we must live to glorify Him alone, because we truly are just dust in the wind.
Please pray for his family and loved ones, and his band mates, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. Thank you.
