I was in first grade when my mom picked me up early from school.
Airplanes had hit two towers, she said, buckling me in.
That was 19 years ago, and I have had friends who lost their family members that day. Terrorists ripped away fathers, mothers, friends, and loved ones. Although it was almost 20 years ago, I still remember not understanding, being so young. But I understand now. Hatred and darkness ran rampant as smoke billowed into the sky, threatening to overthrow America as we knew it. But it didn’t.
Thankfully, the police, firefighters, and EMTs rushed to the scene and put their lives on the line to save those trapped in rubble.
Today, please pray for those who lost so much on 9/11. Pray for an America that was as united on 9/11 as it was in 2001. Pray for those first responders. Some wounds have healed, and some have not. May Jesus comfort those who lost so much that day. ❤
