Well, here we are. Today was the inauguration of Joe Biden and his vice president, Kamala Harris.
It reminds me of a passage in the Bible:
“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone— for kings and all those in authority—so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
(1 Timothy 2:1-4, BSB)
No matter how you feel about them, God has placed them in power– and we are to pray for them. For their salvation, and for them to lead hopefully in a God-honoring way. At the same time, we know that our nation (the US) is only getting more and more dark… and that needs our prayers, too.
Would you pray with me tonight, as we watch another president come on the scene?
“Dear Lord Jesus,
You created Joe Biden, his family, and his vice president, Kamala Harris, and her family. We pray now that You would bring them both to know You if they do not know You already; we pray that You would place it heavily upon their hearts to lead this nation in a way that honors and blesses You. Please use those in Congress and in other places of authority to do Your Will over all, and to lead our nation back to You.
We give them all into Your Hands, now, Jesus. May we continue to pray for our country– we ask that You would keep us from getting darker and more heartless, and we pray that the unborn would be honored. May our country turn back to You, and may You bless it.
In Your Precious and Mighty Name we pray,
Amen.”
