Friends,
My heart is throbbing with both joy and pain, tonight. I don’t know which bit of news to tell first.
I will tell the bad news first: Approximately 30 students in Nigeria were kidnapped by a gang at 11:30pm on Thursday, March 11th, 2021. 180 people were found and recovered, but these thirty students remain missing. This is just one more kidnapping in a string of them that have happened recently.
As I reviewed this horrible news, I also saw a different piece of news entirely: Naomi Adamu, one of the 276 young women kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014, was interviewed about her time in the jungle with terrorists. You can find more of the interview here, but one thing that was said about her really made my heart sing.
“Naomi was freed in 2017 and while she is now happily married and expecting her first child…”
The interview speaks of how many of the Chibok girls’ faith in Christ was not dampened, but rather strengthened while in captivity. It shows me everything I have been praying for these young women. I’ve prayed for freedom, for blessings, for healing. And while she still may get scared, this young woman has chosen to move on with her life: falling in love and having a child.
Jesus has heard my prayers. He’s heard all of our prayers. He is a God of reconciliation, of restoration, of joy and peace and LIFE. And He has blessed Naomi, His Daughter, with a life that reaches far beyond the prison camps of Boko Haram.
Jesus is a God of LIFE.
Knowing this brings me hope for the 30 who have recently been kidnapped. If Jesus has done this once, He can do it again. May these victims find Him, and be freed, just as Naomi has been. He is the God known for doing such things.
Do you know Jesus?
Jesus gave His Life so that we might have life eternally. Learn more about Him, here.
Please pray for…
- Naomi Adamu and the other Chibok girls, both missing and found. Pray that they would have restored lives full of freedom, and most importantly, a relationship with Jesus.
- The 30 kidnapped students, that they too would be found and freed in Jesus’ Name.
Thank you for your prayers!
