Nigeria Taken off the Countries of Particular Concern List

Apparently, the Biden Administration has taken Nigeria off of the Countries of Particular Concern list (CPC)– a list for those countries where religious persecution exists.

This is why I keep this blog going. No one seems to pay attention to the violence and tragedy still happening, 7 (almost 8) years after the Chibok schoolgirl kidnapping. This news displays that while much has improved– including the death of Islamic State West African Province leader Abubakar Shekau— there is still much to do, especially in light of the kidnapping of police men in Northern Nigeria. As Tony Perkins, leader of the Family Research Council, says, “The CPC designation is the U.S. government’s official ‘worst of the worst’ list regarding religious freedom violations. Nigeria’s religious freedom problems are obvious and rapidly deteriorating even further. The Biden administration’s removal of Nigeria from the CPC list defies logic and sound policymaking. This must be remedied and Nigeria placed back on the CPC list so the full force of the federal government can be harnessed to address this crisis” (source).

Long story short, Nigeria needs to be on the CPC. Please pray with me and tell Biden that Nigeria needs to be put back on the CPC.

“Dear Lord God,
We thank You and praise You for those Christian brothers and sisters we have all around the world, and especially in Nigeria, who are undergoing persecution for loving and following You. We pray in Jesus’ Name that Biden would put Nigeria back on the CPC, and that persecution would be reduced. Please help our family members there to stay faithful, strong, and full of every fruit of the Spirit– “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23). We trust You and lift them high now. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen.”
