There seems to be a lot of change going on, some of it just over the horizon.
Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President to Muhammadu Buhari, officially announced that he is running for the position of President of Nigeria come 2023. It seems like 2015– the year Buhari was made President– has flown by!
It is always exciting when change is happening. But through it all, we must rely on Christ to lead and guide us during such tumultuous times. It reminds me of a verse from the Bible:
“Early the next morning Joshua and all the Israelites left Acacia Grove and arrived at the banks of the Jordan River, where they camped before crossing. Three days later the Israelite officers went through the camp, giving these instructions to the people: ‘When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, move out from your positions and follow them. Since you have never traveled this way before, they will guide you.‘”
–Joshua 3:1-4, NLT
The Israelite officers saw the importance of the Levitical Priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH first in line. They knew that when they put the Lord and His Might in front of them, they would be safe to move wherever the presence of the LORD moved.
We need to do this today. While excitement can cause us to want to hurry ahead, let’s allow the Lord to lead and guide our decisions.
As Yemi Osinbajo has officially announced this great thing, let’s rely on Christ throughout the process, believing and knowing that all that matters is that Jesus’ Will is done in this life.
Father God,
Please lead and guide those in power to elect someone who genuinely loves and serves You. We pray in Jesus’ Name that Nigerians would turn to You now and seek Your Face and Your Will on the matter. We trust You, Father. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen.
