“Fifty”: A Poem for Nigeria

Between 50-70 people were killed in a church service this past Sunday while celebrating Pentecost. This poem is for them.

Fifty.
Fifty family members
slipped through the cultural cracks
passed the divide, they can’t come back
And seemingly no one bats an eyelash.

Fifty men– with their children and wives
blood and bruises, they have lost their lives
and seemingly no US headlines will tell

Gone to hell? No,
singing Your praises, Father, under the church roof
They’re devoted to you Lord, their lives are the proof;
Lost because they love you.

Please,
Let us take note
and speak aloud,
of what they spoke:
fellowship, devotion,
loyalty, emotion
that cannot be surpassed.
They lie in tatters–
do they matter?
It’s something I
have to ask.

Do you know Jesus?

Revenge against those who do such blatantly evil things ultimately belongs to God– to Jesus. Learn more about Jesus here.

Please pray with me for the loved ones of the young students and teacher killed today in Uvalde, Texas.

Words cannot describe, so I will not even try to.

Please… just pray.

Do you know Jesus?

One of the shortest verses in the Bible is this: “Jesus wept.”

Prayers for Michigan

Today, 3 children died in another attack on a school. What can a person say to this? Are there even words to communicate this tragedy?

While there may be no words, there are words we can pray to Christ. In the midst of the confusion and heartbreak, we can pray to a God who is never shaken, but it so close.

Please, pray with me for those who are injured, and for the families who are left behind and are now grieving their children.

“Dear Lord God,
Thank You for being Sovereign. Nothing surprises You, but it does break Your Heart. We pray over each and every student and adult affected by that shooting, and pray that they would come to know You, and recieve the healing that they need. We thank You for this, Father. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen.”

Do you know Jesus?

In this, I am reminded of this song— hopefully it expresses both the pain and hope of life with Jesus, who died to save us all. Learn more about Him, here.

The Saugus High School Shooting: A Moment for Prayer

I am heartbroken at the amount of evil that has been seen recently. A 16-year-old shooting at random at Saugus High School, getting rid of precious lives; families broken, hearts shattered.

May God use this tragedy to bring people to Himself… may they run to Him, and not away. Jesus can and will use this horrific event for good (Genesis 50:20).

Please, stop whatever you’re doing, and pray for those affected by the shooting, including the families of the two students who were killed, 15-year-old Gracie Muehlberger and 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell (source).

Thank you.

#PrayersForTexas Shooting

As many of you know, this past Saturday (August 31st, 2019), an armed gunman shot seemingly randomly at passersby between the towns of Midland and Odessa. At least 7 people were killed, and 21 others were injured. As news continues to flood in, I will try my hardest to keep this post updated.

Do you know Jesus?
It’s the truth: the end is near. Do you know where you’ll be after this life ends? Learn more about Jesus, who is the only way to heaven, here.

Please pray with me over those affected by this cowardly, horrific tragedy:

  • For the families of those hurt and killed in this tragedy to find comfort.
  • That the local churches in this area would open their doors to serve, support, and love those who have gone through this hell.
  • That people would be protected by Christ in such a dangerous, violent world.

Thank you.

Prayers for the Gilroy Garlic Festival

By now, most of you have heard of the horrible shooting that took place in Northern California at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. 3 people passed away, including one small child, age 6.

What is there to say? I have no words. There are no words to describe the horror that the United States is going through in these shootings. I’m not going to politicize it one way or another; I am not about to state my opinions on gun control in one way or another. Continue reading

Let’s please say a prayer for the families of these two players, as well as for Ballentine and his injuries.

Thank you.

Prayers for the Three Mass Shootings in the US

Three.
That is the amount of school shootings that have happened in the last week in the USA. One shooting was at the Rite-Aid distribution center in Maryland; another was “in a courthouse in Masontown, PA”; and yet another another was at the “WTS Paradigm software company in Middleton, WI” (source).
